grad photo done by Jess Hume-Pantuso at Oregon State University 2023

Hello.
Nice to meet you!

I am a photographer and graphic designer based in the United States. I recently graduated with a dual BFA in graphic design and Art with a concentration in photography from Oregon State University.

I aim to make design accessible, user-oriented, and unique. I have focused more recently on environmental design and exhibition design. For my latest project, I took my previous photography series where I retold my grandma's stories while she was interned during World War II. I took what I felt were rather 2-dimensional images and experiences into an installation. I wanted to transport the viewer to a space where they could understand the gravity of the Japanese-Internment camps.

I studied art with a concentration in photography at Oregon State University starting my second year after my acceptance into the Graphic Design professional program. My photography explores levels of my self-identity as a Japanese-American woman through the lens of my family history. "We looked like the Enemy" discusses my grandma's journey after being sent to the Japanese internment camps during World War II My project retells their story in order to educate this often untold part of American history and to humanize the population of people that were seen as less than human.

Although my most recent focus has been on exhibition design, I am fascinated and excited about different fields and mediums. At Oregon State University, I was able to study and get hands-on experience in many different parts of design. I am seeking positions in print media after finding a passion for being a bookmaker while being a student at OSU.
